We know the data and information around your equity grant can be overwhelming. That's why we built a step-by-step guide on how to import your data from Carta to Addition.
If you're a new employee, you may not have received your Carta Account yet. This is normal and your HR or Equity team will be in touch when your access has been added! Confirm if your employer has already connected your equity to Addition Wealth. You can check this by heading to our website.
Steps to Add Your Equity:
Start by logging into Carta
Head over to your Carta Portfolio View
Go to your Carta Holdings and scroll down to the bottom to reveal the chart of your equity holdings. In Carta, you'll find your equity type listed under each grant name. Please select the corresponding type in the Addition platform.
In Carta Holdings, you’ll also find key information like number of shares and exercise (strike) price. Fill this information in for the corresponding Addition fields. When you've filled this out, click on the grant title (ES-130 in our example) to reveal more information.
In Carta's Grant Detail, please click on "Details" on the lefthand panel. Scroll down to "Grant Date" and fill this date into the corresponding Addition "Grant Date" field.
In Carta's Grant Detail, please click on "Vesting Schedule" on the lefthand panel. You'll find different information here including:
- Schedule Name in Carta:
- 1/48 monthly - This is your vesting frequency and timeline. 1/48 refers to vesting 1/48th of your equity each month. In the Addition platform, you would select the following:
- Frequency: Every month
- Timeline: 4 years
- Other popular timelines include 1/36 monthly, 1/24 monthly, 1/12 monthly. This translates to 3 years, 2 years, 1 year, respectively
- 1/48 monthly - This is your vesting frequency and timeline. 1/48 refers to vesting 1/48th of your equity each month. In the Addition platform, you would select the following:
- Vesting Start in Carta: This corresponds with "Start Date" in Addition's platform
- Cliff in Carta: This corresponds to "Cliff" in Addition's platform
